Season 4 Premiere Of ‘The Game’ Draws In 7.7 Million Viewers

by J.Waves

BET scored a major ratings victory last night with the premiere of scripted series The Game, which drew 7.7 million viewers — the network’s biggest audience for a scripted series debut.

The African-American targeted network produced the fourth season of The Game – which follows the lives and relationships of players on a fictional pro-football team – after the CW cancelled the show after three seasons.

BET last night also drew 4.4 million viewers for the debut of a second scripted show, Let’s Stay Together. The series, which takes a look at the relationship challenges of five young, aspirational African-Americans, was produced by actress/singer Queen Latifah’s production company, Flavor Unit Entertainment.

Forbes Says Jay-Z Took Shots at Birdman on New Single H.A.M.

by DG

On the track, released on Kanye’s Facebook page early Tuesday morning, Jay-Z complains that his competitors merely fantasize about what he does on a daily basis — including, but not limited to, schmoozing with Warren Buffet and Steve Forbes. He also cites this writer’s $450 valuation of his personal net worth, rounding up slightly to “half a billie,” before taking a shot at a fellow Hip-Hop Cash King or two: “Really, you got baby money.”

The line is a double entendre meant both as a general reference to the small amount of money that other rappers have in comparison to Jay-Z, and as a specific a reference to the wealth of rapper Dwayne “Lil Wayne” Carter, also known as “Weezy Baby,” and fellow New Orleans rapper and record executive Brian “Birdman” Williams, also known as “Baby.”

by DG

Earlier we noted that shares of HNHI added $50 million in market cap today thanks to tweets from 50 Cent aka Curtis Jackson.

Obviously he’s being compensated. How much? A LOT.

This SEC filing shows that he owned 30 million shares. Seeing as each one gained $.29 today, that’s nearly $10 million for one weekend of tweeting.

How soon do you think he sells?

Jessica Simpson to Become 1st Celebrity With A Billion Dollar Clothing Line

by DG

While Jessica Simpson is no stranger to the up and downs of the business of Hollywood, it appears the singer, designer and reality star has a billion reasons to celebrate.

According to Women’s Wear Daily, her eponymous clothing line is about to the first ever celebrity clothing line to top a billion dollars in retail sales.

Appearing on the Dec. 6 cover of the fashion magazine, Simpson is being crowned “Fashion’s Billion Dollar Baby.”

The Jessica Simpson Collection, which produces shoes, handbags, coats and clothing took in $750 million in retail sales this year alone. So lucrative is the line that it’s estimated that it’s driven Simpson’s net worth to be $100 million.

Not too shabby for the singer, whose record sales and reality show ratings have been on the decline in recent years.

But in the land of celebrity clothing lines, where everyone from Jennifer Lopez to Victora Beckham have found success, it appears Simpson is queen.

And she isn’t going anywhere soon. According to WWD, next fall, Simpson plans to launch a sportswear line. Early estimates for the line expect it to generate between $150 million and $200 million within the next two years.

“She is the girl next door and has great product that surrounds her,” Vince Camuto, the founder of the Camuto Group, which owns the master license to her brand, told the magazine. “People like her. People look at her as a style icon.”
