The Football Commission: Week 5 Results

by DG

We missed last week due to my procrastination so you have my apologies for that. Last time, Jeff had the best record and Achillies took home the fantasy crown. Let’s see if ETG can earn himself some respect this time around. Coach Webb is also looking for points in that category. Let the games begin.

Tennessee at Pittsburgh

Seattle at NY Giants

Cincinnati at Jacksonville

New Orleans at Carolina

Oakland at Houston

Philadelphia at Buffalo

Kansas City at Indianapolis

Arizona at Minnesota

Tampa Bay at San Francisco

NY Jets at New England

San Diego at Denver

Green Bay at Atlanta

Chicago at Detroit

Week 5 Winner(s): Jeff  & T-Webb (10-3)

Fantasy Winner: ETG  (Aaron Rodgers – 27)

Overall Leader: Jeff (35-10)

After our third go around, Jeff is still in the lead with 10 losses but Achilles is only 3 games back and the rest of the field is fairly even. T-Webb put himself in good position by tying with Jeff for the best record this week.  ETG chose the safe route with Aaron Rodgers and won this week’s fantasy pick. With the 49ers, Bills &  Lions on top of the NFL right now I don’t expect anything logical to work here so anything is everything for now. Check back in next week and we’ll see if the Cowboys can bounce back against the Pats and what Jigga Man’s Hublot can do.

Achillies: (9-4)  Overall: 32-13

  • Pittsburgh, New York Giants, Cincinnati, New Orleans, Oakland, Buffalo, Indianapolis, Minnesota, Tampa Bay, New England, San Diego, Green Bay, Chicago

Winner: Jeff (14-2)

Fantasy Winner: Achillies (Tate – 23)

This was the first week for us so we are still learning what we can improve on and how to expand. Jeff only had 2 losses putting him in the lead, followed by a 3-way between Achillies, D-Lop & DG for 2nd. Achillies also won the fantasy pick with Ben Tate picking up 23 points.

Achillies: 12-4

  • Picks: Detroit, Baltimore, Cleveland, Oakland, Minnesota, New Orleans, New York Jets, Pittsburgh, Arizona, Green Bay, Dallas, New England, Denver, Houston, Atlanta, New York Giants
  • Fantasy: Ben Tate (23)  – With injury to Foster, Tate will get the bulk of the carries against a suspect Dolphins defense.

  • Detroit, Baltimore, Indianapolis, Buffalo, Minnesota, Chicago, New York Jets, Pittsburgh, Arizona, Green Bay, Dallas, New England, Denver, Houston,  Atlanta, New York Giants
  • Fantasy: Jay Cutler (-4) – Going to have a big year number wise, had a full year to learn from Mike Martz; offensive genius.

  • Detroit, Baltimore, Indianapolis, Buffalo, Minnesota, New Orleans, New York Jets, Pittsburgh, Washington, Green Bay, San Francisco, New England, Denver, Miami, Philadelphia, New York Giants
  • Fantasy: Even though I picked the beats to ultimately lose the game.  Look for their defense to make a lot of big plays in an attack fueled by their long time leader Brian Urlacher (3.5) after the death of his mother.

T-Webb: 10-6

  • Detroit, Baltimore, Cleveland, Oakland, Minnesota, New Orleans, New York Jets, Pittsburgh, Arizona, Green Bay, Dallas, San Diego, Denver, Houston, Philadelphia, New York Giants
