WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama plans to sign legislation Monday aimed at improving schoolchildren’s diets before meeting the NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers.

The president and the first lady will make remarks on a priority they share. Then the president will sign into law the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010, which is intended to improve the quality of school lunches.

In the afternoon, the president will welcome the Los Angeles Lakers to honor their 2009-2010 season and their second consecutive NBA championship.
